Jerry HawthorneJerry Hawthorne, chairman and chief executive officer of Hawthorne Benefit Technologies, is the founder of BeneTrac's web-based solution for enrollment and employee benefits administration software. Well-known throughout the industry, Mr. Hawthorne has more than 25 years of employee benefits experience, including roles as regional vice president of Southern California for Blue Cross of California; director of human resources for Firemans' Fund, and vice president of human resources for Frank B. Hall, an international insurance brokerage company. In 1987, he launched Hawthorne & Associates, a general agency that contracted with major insurance companies to provide marketing and sales tools such as quoting and underwriting services to aid brokers in the sales of employee benefits products. H&A subsequently became one of the largest general agencies in the nation. He sold that company in April 2000, having founded Hawthorne Benefit Technologies, also known as BeneTrac in June 1999.This company's ASP technology has currently been launched in 550 companies nationally, serving 240,000 health plan members and administering more than $400 million in corporate benefits, with an average of 2 million transactions per month to various insurance carriers nationwide.

A sought-after speaker for various employee benefits organizations, Mr. Hawthorne is also a nationally published author. He holds an MBA from California Western University and professional designations of Registered Health Underwriter and Certified Health Consultant.

Jan Hawthorne, RHU

Executive Vice President

Jan HawthorneJan Hawthorne, executive vice president for BeneTrac, has been a successful entrepreneur and leader in the health insurance industry since 1987. Ms. Hawthorne, as co-owner, has been instrumental in setting the direction for two start-up companies that both became multi-million dollar enterprises. She was the co-owner and vice president of leading California general agency, Hawthorne & Associates, Inc. Ms. Hawthorne later co-founded BeneTrac and was instrumental in defining the vision and setting its direction. She currently participates in the overall management of BeneTrac with the specific responsibilities of directing advertising and promotions, marketing and public relations, including overseeing the development and execution of marketing strategies such as advertising campaigns in both online and print media, Web site design and communication strategies and dissemination of information on the organization to the public.

Ms. Hawthorne has authored various articles published in national publications such as Workforce and Supervision Magazine. She holds the professional designation of Registered Health Underwriter (RHU) and possesses a B.A. degree from California State University, Northridge.

Art Brooks

Vice President of Sales

Art BrooksArt Brooks, vice president of sales for BeneTrac, has been with the company since its inception in 1999. Known as a pioneer in the electronic enrollment and benefits management arena, Mr. Brooks has over 10 years of benefits administration experience. He is known industry-wide as an outstanding trainer, team builder and consultant. Formerly the director of sales for Xybernet, Inc., Mr. Brooks was in charge of the company's national sales team. At BeneTrac, Mr. Brooks manages and leads the company's national sales force, dedicated to fostering and maintaining relationships with more than 250 carriers and insurance providers as well as several thousand brokers who distribute the BeneTrac product. He works side-by-side with IT and Operations developing the products and services, which maintain the outstanding practical applications of the BeneTrac system. Mr. Brooks has achieved record-setting results each year with sales far exceeding expectations and bringing the company national acclaim. He has written several articles appearing in national magazines such as HR Hub, Health Insurance Underwriters and California Broker.

Suzanne Short

Vice President of Operations

Suzanne ShortSuzanne Short, vice president of operations at BeneTrac, has been with the company since its inception in 1999. Ms. Short is highly regarded in the industry as a business-savvy professional with broad insurance background and expertise. She was integrally involved in the concept and design of the Internet health insurance quoting system, Interactive QuoteStar, and led the project development team from 1995 - 1997. With her extensive practical experience in finance, operations and project management, she was instrumental in the initial concept and design of BeneTrac's infrastructure. She currently oversees all new business implementations, operations and customer service staff and developed and administers the training program for new employees. Ms. Short worked in key management positions with Hawthorne & Associates, BeneTrac's founding organization and wholesale provider of employee benefits, for 10 years prior, holding roles as CFO, CIO and vice president. She is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management. Ms. Short possesses a B.S. in Business/Information Systems from University of Phoenix.

Brian Daley

Vice President of Technology

Brian DaleyBrian Daley, vice president of technology at BeneTrac, helped launch the company in June 1999. Mr. Daley, a pioneer in electronic benefits enrollment systems, has extensive knowledge and experience in Web and database technologies across multiple platforms. He is responsible for application development, IT infrastructure, EDI, technical architecture and systems engineering. Prior to joining BeneTrac, he served as head of applications development with San Diego-based XyberNet, Inc. for five years, and was a primary designer of HealthFare, one of the first full-featured multi-carrier employee benefit enrollment and maintenance systems. Mr. Daley originated and spearheads the innovative bi-weekly engineering prioritization meetings, bringing together representatives of all departments of the company to set priorities for future development for BeneTrac. This has resulted in keeping the company moving in the direction to best serve its customers and also maintained the unprecedented spirit of cooperation between sales, operations and IT, a hallmark of the success of the company.

Michael House

Vice President of Product Development

Michael HouseMichael House, vice president of product development for BeneTrac, started his career in the health insurance arena in 1993 at the general agency, Hawthorne & Associates, Inc. Mr. House oversaw the concept and development of the company's quoting system, QuoteStar, and later the online version, Interactive QuoteStar (IQ), which calculates and displays health insurance rates, benefits and underwriting guidelines from multiple insurance carriers in a single format. He joined BeneTrac in 2000 when Hawthorne and Associates, Inc. was sold, and took IQ to the next level with BeneQuote. Today his role is overseeing the strategic development of new products and services for BeneTrac's ever-expanding suite of tools.

Mr. House has been instrumental in the development of new features for BeneTrac such as the interactive Return on Investment model, Report FactorySM, COBRA FactorySM and redesigning the user interface to make it simpler to use, more attractive and more functional. He also develops tools for improving and refining internal processes such as streamlining the implementation of new groups into the BeneTrac system.
